Services starting to return after BB&T has large banking outage


Officials say at this time, automated Phone24 service and ATMs are now available, but some account information has not yet been fully updated from yesterday.

If clients incurred fees directly related to this outage, BB&T said it will waive or reimburse those fees.

It ended, "As we shared earlier, the outage you've been experiencing was caused by an equipment malfunction in one of our data centers".

Last week, some TD Bank customers were unable to use online and mobile banking after the Canadian-owned bank ran into technical trouble while upgradings its software.

It is unclear what the issue is or how long it will take to fix.

At this time, many of our banking services are still unavailable but you can use your debit, credit & prepaid cards.

Officials with BB&T said "the issue has been identified and they're working to resolve it as soon as possible". We hear your frustration, and we are committed to making this right. "Thank you for your patience as we work diligently to restore your services".

BB&T first acknowledged the problem on Thursday, the Charlotte Observer reported.

BB&T, which is based in North Carolina, has a large presence in Lancaster County.

BB&T says it operates more than 2,000 financial centers in 15 states and Washington, DC.
