This comes right on the heels of Assasin's Creed Origins latest DLC expansion, The Hidden Ones, which takes place four years after the main game. At the time, Ubisoft said that it was now a feature that was being investigated, but the more recent announcement means that those investigations must've been successful.
That's not really been announced as part of Ubisoft's ongoing support for the game, but a community manager confirmed it in the publisher's forums yesterday.
New Game +, for those that aren't aware, is the ability to start the game over with all of your original playthrough's weapons, items, outfits, abilities, etc. without having to earn them again.

This DLC also raised the level cap to allow for more character progress during the story and another DLC, The Curse of the Pharaohs, is scheduled to release on March 6 and will raise the cap even higher.
Assassins Creed Origins is out now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
With developers now confirming that the New Game Plus mode will indeed be added, fans have now moved on to speculating about how this feature could work inside "Origins".
