The US State Department's new travel advisory program has categorised Greece as a low risk area for safety and security.
Women have been discouraged from traveling alone as rape is "one of the fastest growing crimes in India".
The revised system assigns levels of advice (1 to 4) about travel as it pertains to every country. "The Department of State provides additional advice for travelers in these areas in the Travel Advisory" says the Department of State".
To warn travelers of potential dangers overseas, the US State Department has updated its travel advisory for countries, including India and Pakistan.
The US State Department on Wednesday issued four new levels of threat assessments for its citizens - from normal precautions to no travel - but kept Pakistan in the third category of "reconsider travel". She noted that even some of her colleagues had difficulty understanding the difference between "travel alerts" and "travel warnings" under the previous system.

Level 3 translates bluntly as "reconsider travel", with the recommendation to avoid going to countries with serious risks. The Department of State provides additional advice for travelers in these areas in the Travel Advisory.
"They target tourist locations, transportation hubs, markets/shopping malls, military and government installations, airports, universities, . schools, hospitals, places of worship, and local government facilities", it added. These include France and Belgium, where an ISIS cell conducted deadly attacks in 2015 and 2016, as well as Germany, where a truck plowed into a group of people at a Christmas market in December 2016. Level three countries include Russian Federation, due to civil unrest in certain areas, and Venezuela, due to crime and a limited ability of the USA to provide assistance to citizens.
It also advised its countrymen to not travel to Balochistan province, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Federally Administered Tribal Areas among others. They will be posted to the State Department's website and sent to Americans enrolled in the "Smart Traveler" program.
Additionally, several Mexican states were rated Tier 3, meaning Americans should "reconsider travel" to the areas.
