After years of brainstorming - Google finally has had the genius idea of unifying both these platforms under a single brand.
You may have already seen Google Pay branding in the wild as it is now featured on Airbnb, HungryHouse, Instacart, Dice and Fandango. However, while Google Wallet still exists, the tap-to-pay system was then rebranded Android Pay and introduced in multiple markets.
"With Google Pay, it'll be easier for you to use the payment information saved to your Google Account, so you can speed through checkout with peace of mind", Google's Pali Bhat explained.More news: SpaceX prepares to launch secretive Zuma satellite
Existing users of both services will be able to "speed through checkout with peace of mind", according to a January 8 announcement, by making it easier for them to use payment information saved on their Google Account.
This all-new Google Pay branding was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018 event being held in Las Vegas.
Google Pay will work just like Android Pay in stores, and you will start seeing "Buy with Google Pay" or "Pay with Google Pay" buttons on sites that start supporting Google's new payment platform.
According to Google, a unified "Google Pay" option is already starting to appear on websites, in apps, and even in stores.
