The Fire Department of NY says 23 people, including a firefighter, are hurt following a Bronx blaze.
One resident told NBC news he fled the building, barefoot and barechested, with his three children into freezing temperatures that dipped as low as minus 10 degrees Celsius. "Now 16 non life-threatening injuries have been reported", read a tweet on the official Twitter handle of the department.
The 23 civilians - including nine children - and a firefighter were rushed to hospitals after the 7-alarm blaze, Nigro said.
"They will all be OK, thankfully", Nigro said.
