J&K CRPF camp attack: Late night assault took jawans by surprise

The gunbattle between the terrorists and security forces left two jawans injured.

"Security forces including Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF and state police jointly carried out an operation to flush out the militants", the official said.

CRPF spokesman told media that three other CRPF personnel were also injured in the gunfight which began after a fidayeen terrorist group attacked the camp in the wee hours today. He said that till now three terrorists have been killed, although some terrorists are still hidden. The terrorists stormed the 185th battalion camp of the CRPF in Lethpora village in Kashmir valley around 2am.

The militants initially said to be two, barged into the Lethpora centre from the hillside and killed two CRPF men. The CRPF said, "There is full apprehension that such attacks may occur in other camps too". The four-storey building consists of 3 blocks, and block-one is used for officer's family accommodation, the second block as main office while block three has been targeted by terrorists.

The Jaish-e-Mohammad has claimed responsibility for the attack. But during the intervening parole, Noor Mohammad stood up and again re-opened the terrorist organization by joining Jaish- E-Mohammad. Trali was arrested in Delhi in 2003 and the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) had sentenced her to life imprisonment in 2011.
