A few months after they both announced their marital struggles, Stefani appeared on On Air With Ryan Seacrest and said that "To be super honest, it is kind of insane we both went through the same thing at the same time".

Oklahoma native Shelton spent a decade in country music before his popularity surged in 2011 as the wise-cracking judge and mentor to aspiring singers on NBC's reality singing competition show The Voice.

He told People that Stefani had encouraged him to accept the title of Sexiest Man Alive. After Levine initially responded with a simple "what", Shelton elaborated.

The "Sexiest Man Alive" issue will hit stands Wednesday. And that's fat, ' he said. Despite everything i'm fat today.

He's not, of course.

"It could be 2 o'clock toward the evening before I eat and afterward I understand I'm starving, so at that point it's a pack of Cheetos", he says.

Just before the news was made official on Tuesday (November 14), Gwen spoke to Access Hollywood on the rumors that Blake was going to receive the honor. "Wow, I knew I was on to something".

"Blake Shelton is sexy if you like a guy who's always about to lean in and tell you about hearty, healthy, American dog food", Louis Virtel tweeted.

"It's interesting because I don't think any of those things like beauty or sexy or whatever way you want to describe humans is necessarily a physical thing that people are attracted to", she explains.

No offence to Mr Shelton, genuinely none at all, but I really have to agree with him.

Others vented on social media that Charlie Hunnam, Trevante Rhodes and the "cast of Black Panther" should have won the title.
