Taylor Swift returns, with her 'Reputation' at stake

She also points to how Kim recorded Taylor's calls with Kanye.

The album's third-to-last track, This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things, is a postmortem of Swift's 1989 era, when she partied with her squad members on Instagram and was buddy-buddy with West, before 2016 arrived and Swift's public persona took a hit.

"Real friends" could just be a common phrase, or Taylor could possibly be revisiting this and Kanye's song directly with one of her final lines, "Here's a toast to my real friends - they don't care about that he said, she said".

Swift came out of the gate swinging on Reputation's lead single Look What You Made Me Do, with lyrics like "I don't like your little games / Don't like your tilted stage" that seemed directed at West, the rapper who reignited their feud when he unceremoniously included Swift's name in his Famous lyrics.

The track also makes a possible nod to Kim's decision to record Taylor's phone calls with Kanye West during the line, "They're burning all the witches, even if you aren't one / They got their pitchforks and proof / Their receipts and reasons / They're burning all the witches, even if you aren't one / So light me up". Fans theorize that the lyrics, "Did you think I wouldn't hear all the things you said about me?" AKA you can't listen to the full album on demand, but you can listen to a radio station that plays Swift's back catalogue with songs from the new album sprinkled in.

She's wise, though, to close things out with "New Year's Day", a breathy piano ballad that largely strips the layers of production away and give her loyal fans a glimpse of their heroine and her beau holding hands in the back seat of a taxicab and headed off together on what she "can tell is gonna be a long road".

Fans also believe Taylor referenced Calvin in the video for "Look What You Made Me Do" and on "Gorgeous" when she sings, "I've got a boyfriend / He's older than us / He's in the club doing I don't know what". Taylor is definitely not ready to forgive and forget! It's basically like any Taylor Swift Pandora station, but there's a chance a song from reputation will appear. I can't even say it with a straight face, ' she ads about her willingness to forgive him.

"I never trust a playboy, but they love me, so I fly "em all around the world and I let them think they saved me..."

"If a man talks s--, then I owe him nothing/I don't regret it one bit, 'cause he had it coming", Swift sings on "I Did Something Bad".

And that was not not the first time the pop star had taken her beau to meet the famous couple, as she celebrated American Independence Day on July 4 a year ago with her former flame Tom Hiddleston, Blake and Ryan, as well as two other guests at the same New England spot.
