Jodie Whittaker's Doctor Who Outfit Revealed!

"It's more than an honour to play the Doctor", Whittaker told the BBC about being selected earlier in the summer.

Whittaker takes over from the exiting Peter Capaldi, whose last stand (and Whittaker's first) will be a Doctor Who Christmas Special this Christmas.

It's always exciting when a new Doctor takes the reins of the TARDIS.

The BBC posted our first look at Jodie Whittaker's costume for her - and womankind's - inaugural Doctor Who voyage.

However, many fans on social media derisively compared the costume to the outfit worn a fictional character outside of the "Doctor Who" universe: Mork from Ork, played by Robin Williams on the classic sitcom "Mork and Mindy".

Yes, Whittaker has made history as the first female Doctor in the show's 50-plus-year history. And we kind of love her costume - her trench coat and rainbow shirt give us sort of a Tom Baker vibe.

"Definitely dig the outfit for the new Doctor, in particular the pinstripes", tweeted Ken Widdoes of British Columbia. And while I do hope that the 13th Doctor is comfortable with her feminine side, and that she's written well in that regard, I'm so happy she's in trousers and sensible shoes.

Already fans have begun to discuss the look and there appears to be references to previous incarnations of the Time Lord in her outfit. Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, and Mandip Gill have been cast as Graham, Ryan, and Yasmin, respectively. What do you think of the new Doctor's get-up (I'm admittedly torn on the suspenders, but I'm willing to set aside those misgivings for the time being)?
