Buccaneers WR Mike Evans suspended one game for late hit

Mike Evans has been suspended without pay for one game for violations of unsportsmanlike conduct for his hit on Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore. The officials did not eject anyone from the contest.

The Saints won Sunday's game 30-10.

Evans will miss next weekend's game against the New York Jets.

Evans most definitely should have been ejected in the game for his actions.

Evans' infraction came as Lattimore was jawing with Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston.

"I let my emotions get the best of me", Evans said, via the Tampa Bay Times.

An act of petulance and a brutal cheap shot led to a violent scuffle in the National Football League match between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New Orleans Saints. Then, star wide receiver Mike Evans was issued his suspension. Lattimore turned and pushed Winston with one hand.

And that's not the only thing Payton had to say after the Saints beat up on the Bucs. I should have just shoved him away, tried to break it up.

"I know it went to NY to look at", Payton said.

Evans said he only saw Lattimore's shove and was trying to protect his quarterback. "I reacted too quick".

"But that's definitely not the way we want to represent ourselves, if it was in, fact the way I was told".
